Communications and Diplomas

You will receive communications from the FAS Registrar's Office prior to Commencement to confirm your diploma. Please note that the Registrar's Office does not send communications regarding the Commencement Ceremony. 

Commencement Ceremony

The Commencement Office plans the Harvard University Commencement Ceremony. During the Commencement Ceremony, degrees are conferred by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

Harvard College House Ceremonies

Following the Commencement Ceremony, Harvard College's residential communities host smaller celebrations where graduates receive their diplomas. 

  • Your House Academic Coordinator can answer many of your questions. They can also direct any remaining questions or concerns regarding your House’s Commencement Day ceremony to the right person.

Harvard Griffin GSAS Ceremonies

The Harvard Griffin Graduate School of Arts and Sciences hold several events and gatherings. For more information please visit the Harvard Griffin GSAS Commencement page.

 

Commencement and related ceremonies are governed by the University-Wide Statement on Rights and Responsibilities, along with other applicable University and School policies. Students remain subject to University and School-based rules, policies, and procedures, until the time their degree is officially conferred, which is 11:59 p.m. on the day of Commencement for students who remain in good standing and eligible to graduate.
