Fall Registration is Due Tomorrow!

— Register in my.harvard by 11:59pm ET on April 17

You must register for your minimum required course load by the deadline to avoid a $50 late registration fee.
Register for Classes

Register for the minimum required course load by 11:59pm on April 17.

While the standard rate of work is 16 credits, being registered for a minimum of 8 credits will avoid a $50 late registration fee. The fee will be applied to your bill for the following term.
In-Person Registration Support
The FAS Registrar's Office will be offering in-person registration support on April 17 from 12:00–2:00pm at the Smith Campus Center 1st floor and the Science Center. You may also visit our office on the 4th floor of the Smith Campus Center between 10:00am—4:00pm with questions about Fall 2024 Registration or to troubleshoot enrollment issues.

Complete the following steps before the registration deadline:

Clear barriers to enrollment and review your enrolled courses
Clear any holds on your account
There are a variety of holds that may be placed on your account during registration.
  • You must clear these holds by April 17 at 11:59pm ET to avoid a fee. You will be able to take action on and review any holds from my.harvard Student Home.
  • You can request instructor permission for limited enrollment courses even if you have a hold, but your holds must be lifted before you can register.

Validate your Crimson Cart

You will need to validate your Crimson Cart to check for the most current barriers to enrollment, such as time conflicts, holds, or prerequisites. The Crimson Cart does not automatically refresh, and you will need to re-validate your cart each time you check for enrollment barriers.
Confirm Enrolled Courses
  • Make sure you are enrolled in the courses you want to take by checking your enrolled courses list in my.harvard.
  • Be sure to complete final enrollment steps after receiving instructor permission. Receiving instructor permission does not enroll you in your courses.

Limited enrollment courses
  • If you submit a petition to enroll in a limited enrollment course, and your petition is approved, enroll by April 17 at 11:59pm ET.

  • Important: Instructors can cancel approved petitions. This means if you do not accept your seat by a course’s set deadline, your seat may be reallocated to another student.

  • If you no longer want to enroll in the course, no further action is needed.

Future Schedule Changes
You can make final adjustments to your schedule when add/drop opens August 19, including changes to sections, and adding cross registration courses.
If applicable, enroll in discussion sections and labs
If you are taking a course with a discussion section or lab, you will need to register for a timed section/lab, or submit day and time preferences by April 17 at 11:59pm ET, depending on the course's sectioning process.
  • Review the College’s simultaneous enrollment policy. You may not enroll in courses, labs or discussion sections that meet at the same time or at overlapping times.
  • Section numbers are subject to change; sections may be added, cancelled, or combined after registration based on final enrollment numbers.

Resolving closed class messages

If you're getting a closed class message when you try to enroll in an open class, remove it from your Crimson Cart and re-add it with a different open section. Your instructor's permission will remain even if you switch to a different section time. If the class has closed, you will need to wait until add/drop opens on August 19 or check back to see if another student drops the class, and then you can try to enroll into the open class before registration ends.
Consider your options for cross registration
  1. Cross registration for Harvard Divinity School is open.
  2. Cross registration for FAS students to MIT and other Harvard schools will open in August. Check individual school calendars for their specific deadlines.
