##  Options for Harvard College students 

 

### GenEd Pass/Fail Policy and Harvard Summer School

Reminder that students in the Class of 2029 and on must take all courses used for GenEd requirements for a letter grade.

### Taking summer courses

Undergraduate students may now take courses either **on-campus** or **online**. For more information visit [**Harvard College Student Course and Policies Guidelines for Harvard Summer School**](https://summer.harvard.edu/harvard-college-student-overview/student-course-policy-guidelines/)**.**



 

### Summer course credits

Starting Summer 2022, you may receive College credit for **no more than 8 credits** (generally two courses) taught in remote formats in Harvard Summer School. No more than one remote course may be used for General Education credit. Visit the [**Harvard College Student Handbook**](https://handbook.college.harvard.edu/) for details.

Courses taken remotely prior to Summer 2022 will not count towards the 8-credit limit. The 8-credit limit policy on remote courses is only effective beginning Summer 2022.

**Live and on-demand courses:** You must attend courses live to receive credit towards your degree. Harvard College students **will receive an automatic email with** **required questions to answer verifying live attendance, as well as plans to attend on campus or remotely**.

- **Divisional Distribution Requirement:** Some courses taken during Harvard Summer School may count toward the Divisional Distribution Requirement. You can consult a [**list of courses approved for the Divisional Distribution Requirement** ](https://oue.fas.harvard.edu/academics/#divisional-distribution)on the Office of Undergraduate Education website.
- **Quantitative Reasoning with Data Requirement:** Some courses taken during Harvard Summer School may count toward the Quantitative Reasoning with Data Requirement. You can consult a [**list of courses approved for the Quantitative Reasoning with Data Requirement**](https://qrd.college.harvard.edu/requirement/) on the Office of Undergraduate Education website.
- **General Education:** Some courses taken during Harvard Summer School may count toward the General Education credit. You can consult a [**list of courses approved for the General Education Requirement**](https://gened.college.harvard.edu/courses/summer-school/) on the Gen Ed website.



 

###  Summer courses in my.Harvard 

You will see your courses and grades on the my.Harvard enrollment page by the **last week of August.**

If you do not see your course in my.Harvard after the last week of August the course:

- Does not count for college credit
- Requires a submission of online form to count. If you have not received the electronic form from HSS, please contact [**Inquiry@Summer.Harvard.edu**](mailto:Inquiry@Summer.Harvard.edu)
