Grading Basis Change Requests

Why is the Change of Grading Basis deadline the Eleventh Monday for Spring 2021?

The original Change of Grading Basis deadline is typically the Fifth Monday of term. Due to COVID-19, Harvard College updated the Change of Grading Basis deadline in the Student Handbook on December 8, 2020

For Spring 2021, the deadline to change the grading status of a course will be extended to Monday, April 5, or the Eleventh Monday of the semester....

What are my options to change a grading basis if I miss the Eleventh Monday deadline?

If you haven't submitted a request by April 5, 2021, please talk with your Resident Dean about petitioning the Administrative Board.

Pending requests: As long as you submitted your request by the deadline, it is ok if it is approved after the deadline. Faculty, advisers, and resident deans will be provided time beyond the April 5 deadline to respond to their pending requests.

Once the petition is approved, you cannot submit another petition to reverse the decision. Please contact FAS Registrar directly at enrollment@fas.harvard.edu for assistance. Please note that the deadline to request a grading basis change is the Eleventh Monday, April 5th.

Course Registration

I can't enroll in courses that meet simultaneously because I'm seeing a time conflict error in my Crimson Cart. How can I enroll?

You may have seen a time conflict error message in your my.Harvard Crimson Cart under Crimson Cart (Potential/Pending Courses) - 2021 Spring. This issue has been resolved, but you may need to revalidate your Crimson Cart to register for these courses using the instructions below.

Cross Registration

I am cross-registered at MIT but want to drop my course. What do I need to do to drop it?

If you are cross-registered at MIT, please make sure to drop the course in both my.harvard and in WebSIS at MIT. Please note that once you register for a course at MIT, you are automatically enrolled for the course - there is no shopping. To drop the courses in WebSIS at MIT, you must contact records@mit.edu – you will not be able to drop courses directly from WebSIS. What is the cross registration deadline to add/drop?

For students who are cross-registering into courses from two different schools, the student must follow whichever school's deadline is earlier. For example: If Harvard's add/drop deadline is earlier than MIT's, you will need to follow Harvard's deadline.

I’m an MIT student. How do I get access to a course’s materials once I have cross-registered for it?

To get information about a course you have cross-registered for, you will need to contact the Registrar’s Office associated with the school. You may also want to review the course listings or reach out to the course faculty member directly.

Log into my.harvard and make sure you have completed enrollment (see step 8 of the How to Cross Register in my.Harvard). Once you’ve completed enrollment please ...
