Placement exams, while primarily directed at first-year students, are open to all students. The Expository Writing, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Spanish, French, Italian, and German placement exams will all be administered on-line. All other placement exams will be given on campus during Opening Days. Placement exam information for all students may be found on the Placement Exams website. Placement scores and course recommendations are available via my.harvard.edu.
Advanced Placement (AP) Scores
In order for AP scores to be included in the official student record, an official score report must be sent to Harvard from the College Board. If you need to request that your scores be reported to Harvard, you will need to contact the College Board and have your scores sent to Harvard (code 3434). If you have invalid or missing scores in your Placement and Scores Report, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Admitted students who enter the College as first-years in Fall 2020 (the Class of 2024), and all subsequent classes, will not be eligible to receive Harvard College degree credit for pre-matriculation credentials earned in secondary school.
This means that Advanced Placement examinations, the International Baccalaureate diploma, and international credentials will no longer be recognized for Harvard College credit toward the degree beginning with the students who enter the College in Fall 2020. Undergraduates who wish to pursue Advance Standing to graduate in 6 or 7 terms in residence, or pursue an AB/AM program, should consult with their Resident Allston Burr Assistant Dean and visit the Office of Undergraduate Education. More information regarding eligibility and Advanced Standing Activation can be found on the website of the Office of Undergraduate Education website.
